Donate to ACE

Every year, ACE diverts thousands of tonnes of furniture and small items from landfill and to do that we offer a free door-to-door collection service.

What can I donate?

When donating to ACE, you can choose to donate direct to ACE (our second-hand furniture trading arm) or The Remakery (which does furniture upcycling and crafting). Both accept a wide range of donations, with ACE primarily accepting donations of good quality furniture and domestic appliances, and The Remakery more broadly accepting second hand furniture and crafting materials that can be used for upcycling.

Sadly, due to demand and space at our shop, we cannot always accept all items and will give preference to those who can Gift Aid the items they are donating. Gift Aid allows us to help provide free furniture and other services to those in need in our communities. For every pound you donate (i.e. the sale value of the items donated) we can claim back an additional 25p from the Inland Revenue.

Are there any restrictions on what you take?

Yes, items have to be in a good clean condition with no rips, tears or stains. Items have to meet current safety legislation. In particular we can only accept upholstered items if there is a label attached affirming that it complies with the 1988 (or later) regulations. Mattresses have to carry a label which refers to BS7177 usually, sewn into the end wall. 

The final decision to uplift items is at our driver’s discretion.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK Tax Payer, we can claim Gift Aid on any monies we raise from selling your donated goods. We encourage all eligible customers to Gift Aid their items. There is no cost to you and it provides vital funding to our charitable work. You can find out more about Gift Aid here.
